Gamevil has started closed beta testing a new game for mobile called Masquerade. This particular game is a side-scrolling action RPG title where players can pick one of the three available classes to play as, before venturing out into the game’s world to begin beating on the number of different bad guys.
Masquerade has a bit of a futuristic theme to it, while the visuals are more like a comic book, sort of like what you will get in Team Fortress 2. This can be a stage-based game, so you’ll be progress through each stage while following a storyline itself. A good amount of these stages also provide bosses at the end of them that you’ll need to cope with.
Combat is more along the lines of a brawler, and utilizes a combination of taps and swipe gestures to pull of combos. Each character also has some unique skills (both active and passive) you can either work to your combos, or rely on them by themselves. These skills can be leveled up, just like your character can be, in order to make them stronger. Players can also equip different gear and weapons for helping strengthen your character of preference.
When not inside a stage, you will be in ‘The Village’ that is basically your hub to access things like your inventory, character statistics/skills page, and so on. This is also in which you will be able to access the PvP arena. When you’re done there, you can head over to the planet map and continue on with your questing.
The closed beta will run until March 14th, 2016 after which the closed beta will shut down, Gamevil will tweak whatever needs tweaking, after which more than likely Masquerade will be globally launched. Taking part in the closed beta will even net you a reward once the game launches. In order to participate, you have to reside in Canada or even the USA and be using an Android device. You’ll be able to subscribe to access over on the Masquerade Closed Beta Google Group.
